Hi friend, I'm not a professional photographer and I don't even own a DLSR camera or even a tripod. I shoot all my pics with a basic Bridge point-and-shoot camera (Sony DX series) that's all I possess. I don't travel for the sole sake of Railfanning only. After I'm done with my commitments i try to take some time out to shoot some train pics. And I travel alone for convenience. It's only a hobby in leisure time. To add to it, I'm not even a good photographer and still learning Photography.
