This is long being followed over CR/WR and Mumbai sub-urban trains..

Many time i travelled till LPI in KOP-HYB exp from Londa or rayalseema exp from HX and deboraded at LPI and used to catch MMTS to HTCY and my tkt used to be booked till HYB.
Yes there will not be any staff who check my MMTS while i was travelling in such way

is it a E-ticket or Window one , ? Once a TTE said me that window ticket does not have any problems. E-ticket can be manually edited so its not allowed
