The Railways has increased minimum fares on non-suburban train services from the existing Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 with effect from November 20.

IR erodes also short distance passenger to road sector.Long distance passenger to Airways.IR doesn't give stiff competition to Road sector and Airline.
Thsi is done because platform ticket cost were increased to Rs 10/- in the near past
So, many people were taking these Rs 5/- tickets instead of platform ticket which is Rs 10/- .....
