1.1st AC fare is too high further increase will divert passengers toward airlines.
2.Only subsidized areas should be looked into.
3.The additional charges may be implemented where for average speed is more than 65 km per hour. railways is already punishing passenger on several routes with average speed of 40-50 km/hr

The railways should do away with the railway passes that it provides to its employees to travel in AC classes. More than that, the retired employees are also using the benefit of traveling for free in AC classes. Who reimburses these for railways ? It is tax payers money.
One of my relative (Ex Railway employee) traveling in AC class with his son as his servant. (Not sure about the existence of this rule now). I don't know in how many homes they provide AC accommodation for servants !
And,

the railway gives a lots of concessions and free travel to people belonging to various categories. For Example, If they want to issue free passes to sports people, The sports ministry take care of their expenditure. And similarly in other cases.
And Izzat railway passes. It is nothing but a waste of railway money. Travel for a month with Rs 25 /- pass for a distance of 100 kms. Is it a joke ? The MST and QST, their calculation logic should be revised.
Without doing these things, if they keep on increasing the AC fares, one then airlines are always there as an alternate.
Already as far as I know, 2A and 1A are only utilized by Railway Employees, Senior citizens and others traveling with passes. People who travel quite often in these classes should know.

.Ist class Rajdhani fare is rs 4750/- between Mumbai and Delhi, air line fare is also between 3000/- to 5000/- A further increase will hamper IR business.
we have seen MST holders occupying sleeper class in Various trains @rs.300-500 per Month.
In Local buses monthly fare are rs. 1000-1500 pm.The Local buses on the route where train route is available are plying empty due to subsidy given by Railways.

I have a wild belief that fare will not be increased in this budget. there are elections in 5 states in the month of May and if want to increase also, it will be done in October.
