There was a time when Mughal Sarai used to be a huge marshalling yard..Abhi marshalling ka koi kam nahi hota fir bhi I feel that performance was better compared to now
Its been used in context of Freight!!
Earlier Freight wernt running as end to end single unit but do hav diff destination wagon merged to create complex unit, whch need to get bifurcated, remerged as per destination freight diff units..this lead to quite workload @ marshalling yard with huge track count to facilitate the activities!!
Now IR do booking for complete Rake unit & hence big yard arnt required!!
