It is a very good move by railways to go paperless and save paper, but what about general class i.e. II class ?
Completely agree. I myself have noticed numerous times, no body bothers to check chart in sbc and mys shatabdi. the main issue here is, massive paper waste is generated and in most cases the chart gets torn midway and falls on tracks. The paper cant even be recycled.
People like me check charts but not to confirm my berth number- only to see who is going to sit next to me :P

Environment Friendly Very Good Long Overdue Pending Decision saving trees via less paper use .
The main loss is for us, rail fans, who are the only ones interested in the charts, exploring them. I usually keep 5-10 minutes for charts alone. As we all know, charts provided us that valuable information on quotas (esp some of those hidden come to the fore), current patronage of the train, co-passengers, so on and so forth. Maybe we will have to talk to TTE/co-passengers more and more to glean such information.
Now that SR has put the go-green initiative on the back burner, people who are in the habit of chart browsing can heave a sigh of relief.
