Circular rail, if implemented properly can work in Lucknow[and won't suffer the same fate as Delhi's Ring Railway]. It would be curious as to how they will implement the Gatimaan services from Lucknow. The GKP bound tracks are fit for 120 now[nearly] but demand is a problem there; the BE bound tracks aren't great either plus demand is an issue again. The route going towards CNB has huge demand[linking Lucknow and Kanpur to Agra in the future with Agra might be possible] but that would require a revamp of the LJN-CNB route which is full of speed restrictions.
Let's see how will they manage but I'm very excited to see circular rail in Lucknow.. It'll feel like Lucknow local..
They need to first double the track b/w LKO-Gomtinagar before thinking about circular rail. The tracks are so encroached that MG and BG were not allowed to run simultaneously at some sections. Post GC, the traffic pressure will rise, leading to more and more delay.
You are right.. But near Lucknow city station there is a tunnel.. railway has started building more space and removing encroachment. So that they can run up and down trains at a time.
