Railway Minister degrades his Ministry .He evades from the parliamentary both MP s.At-least now some efficient MP s are achieved for their constituency. No Tamilnadu MP s are interested in Railway Projects .So no loss or no gain for non presenting a separate Railway Budget.

Very correct sir, discontinuation of the railway budget is the first but the most important step toward depoliticisation of Rly budget. The legislators who pressurize the RM may then start pressurizing FM for their vested interests, but their effort is most unlikely to yield significant result. It is very difficult to a persuade a FM to drain the scarce resources in the loss making Rly ventures as he has his responsibility to look after the demands of every ministry. He is like a head of a family who is supposed to earn (collect revenue for Govt) and to feed (give funds) all his family members (ministries). More over FM is in general afinancial expert and the most prudent minister in the cabinet.

is the final step to depoliticize the IRlys and bring in efficiency in the operation. It is difficult but not impossible. Earlier many industries and business were under govt. control. Many sectors like Power, steel, Aluminum have been given decontrolled. Railways can also be decontrolled gradually on the same line. Pvt sector may also be allowed to own and operate trains/ tracks and monopoly can be broken just as in case of civil aviation sector which has experienced a great progress since then. Same can be repeated with Rlys. But it has to be done very cautiously and meticulously since the railway operations are very extensive and complicated.

Dear friend, if every goes as intended, things are likely to be better for I Rlys as a whole, as political interference is likely to be lesser. If you think MPs of particular state don't care about Rlys in their state,it will be definitely good for that state too. Simple reason is, the IRlys will be taken care of by qualified and experienced Rly personnels who, without any political considerations, will go by merit with much more freedom. these Rlymen know IRlys much better than any politician whose most important qualification for being MoR is garnering maximum votes and winning election in the constituency.
