In this respect, it can be said that all the train rakes running on the are I Rlys tracks including the premier ones like Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/ Duronto etc are under utilised !! The culprit here is the slack time given to the trains so as to accommodate large number of passenger/freight trains jostling for "green Signal" to move along in the limited Indian railway Network, and to facilitate the regular track maintenance activities.
If all trains get green signal through out their run about 20-35% of the running times can be saved for most of the express trains on IRly network.

Then Why IR need t import Talgo Technologies, if talgo need only green signals to achieve the timeframe, our train sets can achieve the same. carrying capacity is different factor, coaches of our rajdfhani can be reduced to meet the rate of acceleration.
Solution for acceleration is to for double headed trains or more powerful loco, not reduction of coaches. Talgo train can be considered for import on the ground of their tilting capability which enables them to be operated at 25-30 % higher speed than normal trains plus their light weight aluminium construction with speed potential of 250 kmph .
LHB itself being German technology is 200 kmph supported but our tracks infra dont support it, Talgo can run same speeds at same infra thanks to its tilting technology.
LHB coaches(Max speed 200kmph) are made of Stainless steel which makes it heavier than technologically more advanced under trial Talgo coaches (Max speed 250kmph) made up of aluminium.
A shatabdi was planned to be introduced between Mumbai & Goa on the completion of 150 years of Indian Rlys with operational speed of 150 kmph (150yrs..kmph the same figure!) and a jouney time of 6hours flat. Accordingly a speed trial was conducted. Unfortunately there was an accident in the same year on KRly,and the high speed train plan was dropped as a safety measure. LHB coaches had been tested at 179 kmph max during a trail run as claimed by the then MD Mr. Raja Ram.
