Notice to Southern Railway
The Madras High Court Bench here on Wednesday ordered notice to Southern Railway on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed against closure of a reportedly 75-year-old railway station situated at Karupatti village, between Sholavandan and Vadipatti near here, on August 16. Justices Nooty Ramamohana Rao and S.S. Sundar sought the response of the railway administration on the PIL petition filed by U. Rajendran, a ward member of Karupatti Panchayat. The petitioner had claimed that there was no rationale in closing the station after spending Rs.35 lakh for laying a platform in 2014.

I fully support the petitioner against the SR... But is it really closed ???
SR has no reasons to close this Rly Station named Karuppatti... Karuppatty RS in Dindigul DG and Madurai MDU between Sholavandan SDN and Vadipatti VDP ...
It is a halt station and two of local passengers (if not expresses) stop here ...
If they had predicted
low passengers/ lower ticket sales in this RS, they should NOT have built a RS, Platforms and wasted public money...
On another side, in the GC line between POY - PTJ, Kovilpalayam Rly Station which was closed in MG era due to low ticket sales and technical reasons (halt) is not even considered for opening it again and even the public is heavily demanding for opening of this Kovilpalayam RS building RS and platforms, which would be used by nearby about 12 of rural villages for their daily transits to the city of Coimbatore for business, work, study purposes ....
If Karuppatty RS is really closed, voices should be raised to open this again... more passengers trains (specially long distance) can be stopped ...
MDU - DG Passenger
DG - MDU Passenger
MDU - PLNI - POY - PTJ (expected) Passenger
PTJ (expected) - POY - PLNI - MDU Passenger
TEN - MDU - TPJ - MV Passenger
MV - TPJ - MDU - TEN Passenger
MDU - TPJ - VM Passenger
VM - TPJ - MDU Passenger
more new MDU - TPJ Passenger/ DEMU ...
more new MDU - DG - SA Passenger ...
Pax surely would be using trains if more trains stop (especially long distance) catering to TPJ, TJ, PLNI, POY, TEN as it is cheap and comfortable in this BG era comparing to buses, even though RS is distant from nearby villages and highway too ...
Of course, I agree that, it would be certainly catering to <10 pax per stopping ...
