Travelling to Shimoga today by Intercity 16201. Want to know the progress of doubling between TK (Tumkur) and Arsikere. Will update the same after returning from Shimoga i.e., 24th Dec. 2016. Last time i.e., about two months back when I had travelled on this route, I had seen that major earth work was over with bridges nearing completion.
Travelled in Bangalore Shimoga Intercity (T.No:16201) on 21st December 2016. The doubling work Tumkur and Arsikere is progressing well. In some places i.e., Tiptur and near Arsikere, they have even placed concrete sleepers lined up near the new track which means they will be placed in position very shortly.
Great! Hope for the completion of the entire doubling at the earliest.

Did not observe the station Board though I passed by the side of it as this train entered Platform 2 to accommodate Talaguppa Bangalore night express on platform 1. Earlier this train i.e., Intercity was coming to platform 1 and Night express to platform 2. Now it is reversed. The Shivamogga main station is also now operating one battery operated vehicle for those alighting from Inter City. However, this is exclusively for those who cannot walk due to some knee operation etc.,
