how do rail curves give elegance to city?
what is super elevation? how will it help in avoiding speed restrictions?

It is said that "no pain no gain" and I would like to add to it "more the pain more the gain".
It applies very well to straightening of tracks which need huge investment but give immense benefits.
----- PAINs are A FEW and ONE TIME only
Straightening of Rly tracks is a :
(1)
...
one time and heavy investment as the track and O/H electric lines have to be shifted or new alignment has to be followed in short stretches. and
(2) difficult to implement as most of the IR tracks are highly saturated with a large number of trains passing over.
(3) may require land acquisition in some cases
----- GAINS are MANY, and RECURRING FOR EVER
Straightening of curved tracks result in:
(1) Reduction of the distance, so lesser fuel consumption. A long tunnel through ghat section may reduce the distance to less than the half!
(2) Increasing of speed of trains- curved sections are a big drag on the speed of trains, and train speed may go down to as low as only 30kmph. Straightening shall permit constant MPS train operation throughout the run.
(3) Combination lesser distance and higher speed drastically reduce the journey time. There are many ghat sections where 15-25 km of curvy tracks encircling mountains are crossed by 30-45 kmph speed restricted trains in 30-45 minutes, A straight track of 7-15 kms can be done in 5-10 minutes by a train @110kmph.
(4) Ghat sections falling on a a railway line reduce its line capacity and straightening could drastically increase the line capacity, and more trains can be operated on the same route which shall give additional revenue/profits to IR. So the straightening shall pay back too!
(5) The wear and tear of rly tracks and wheels/axles/trains is more on curved tracks due to centrifugal forces acting on the track. This calls for frequent maintenance, more consumption of track and train spares. Straightening shall reduce the maintenance costs and efforts.
(6) Derailments of trains are more on the curved tracks. Straight track leads to SAFER travel and reduced derailments and associated losses of lives, assets and money.
(7) Since frequent braking and acceleration is not required, LPs are not very much stressed, as they don't have to bother about frequent changes in speed. Errors committed by LPs and associated accidents shall reduce to some extent.
(8) constant speed operation suits driverless train operation also

Super elevation is the difference in height between both rails on curve. Hope so you have seen few trains tilt on curves, that is super elevation. This helps in maintaining the speed since super elevation counter acts the centrifugal force.
This maybe not a proper definition but it will give you a idea about it

Super elevation is the degree to which the outer track banks upon the inner track on a curve. As mentioned Akarsh, its used for maintaining speed.
