I agree with you that MAIL is attractive. However, we need to remember in those days between Waltair and Bezwada there would have been just one MAIL and couple of expresses and maybe a passenger or two. I remember Coromandal started in the 1970s. Also East Coast Express from SC to VKSP used to be a part of Krishna Express. In Vijaywada, Krishna used to stop and East Coast used to proceed further to VKSP. Then in late 1970s Minar cum Konark started. Minar used to be from Bombay Vt to SC and the same rake used to be used for SC to Bhubaneshwar via VSKP. In 1974 Godavari Express started from SC to Waltair.
