Hi railfans from Mumbai
I am planning a journey from SBC to CSTM in Udyan Express on 24-August and reaching the next evening. It's Ganesh Chaturthi on that day. So would it be safe to travel to Mumbai on that day keeping in mind the rush that would be there. Few points:
-> I have NEVER EVER been to Mumbai and don't know anything about that city.
->
...
more...
I would be returning back to SBC on Sunday early morning flight.
-> I would not want to get into any trouble.
Are there any good (cheap) hotels near CSTM? Or retiring rooms? Please guide. I need to book my ticket.
Thanks in advance.

Take cstm retiring room ( if available) its good, clean and quiet. Even dormitories are upto the mark.

try to book retiring room, if possible, as the area around CST is quite expensive.
the whole thing, as such, is safe, but the crowds are immense, absolutely immense.
traveling back won't be a problem, Mumbai's police and traffic police, along with Mumbaikar's in general go out of the way to help regulate the situation.
