RailFans don't miss their train. Why? Because they go to the station HOURS before the actual departure of their Train - to watch OTHER trains depart. - Prince Maan

Minimum 3 divisions are mandatory required for a Zone.
Since they demanded exclusively for Kerala ,all other state Railway lines and stations should be detached from Earnakulam Zone and attached to Madurai ,Salem and Mysore divisions .
Thiruvananthapuram ( Kulithurai West to Kanniyakumari and Nagercoil to Tirunelveli to Madurai division.
Meenachipuram ( in Palakkad to Pollachi

route ) to Pollachi jn and Pollachi to Kinathukkadavu stations and lines have to be transferred to Salem division .Mangalore area Karnataka based railway line s and stations ,junctions have to be attached to the Mysore division under SWR.
Shenkottai to Kollam lines have to be merged with Thiruvananthapuram division under transfer from Madurai division.
The new lines to Sabaimala ,Guruvayur have to be transferred to Earnakulam division.Alleppy - Earnakulam - Guruvayur - Shoranur outer have to be merged with Earnakulam new division.
We all Tamilnadu people's are welcoming the formation of Earnakulam Zone with new Earnakulam division ,and the existing Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram division with Kerala territory Railway lines and Stations and Tamilnadu Railway lines and stations are freed from the unwanted circuitous trains and dumping Kerala trains for cleaning the comforts in Tamilnadu yards.
After that SR with Chennai ,Trichy, Salem and Madurai division s infrastructure are developed well within Tamilnadu .More and more trains are operated / interconnected between the Tamilnadu cities of Chennai,Trichy ,Vellore,Salem ,Tiruppur ,Coimbatore,Nagai,Mayiladuthurai ,Rameswaram,Shenkottai,Thoothukkudi, Trichendur and Kanniyakumari without other interference.

Not a bad idea, if its going to help all three states, get their rail development priorities done.
Some SWOT kind of analysis if such a scenario does happen is below (although this might never happen)
Lines that would get transferred
*************************
KZTW
...
- CAPE : 51.81Km (if terminating at KZTW)
NCJ-TEN: 73.31
MXM-POY: 16km (if you want to terminate at MXM)
POY-PTJ: 39.79km
---------------------------------
Total to Salem, Maduri Div: 180km
---------------------------------
QLN-EDM 52.53
AYVN-SCT 19.11 (if terminating at SCT, if Bagawathipuram this would be less)
EDM-Aryankavu: 25km (Approximate)
-------------------------------------------
Total to PGT/TVC Division- 96km approximate
-------------------------------------------
MJS-MAQ: 16.96km
MAQ-MAJN: 5.57km
MAJN-PNMB: 21.43km
------------------------------------------------
Total Most probably to Konkan Railway : 43.96
------------------------------------------------
Reason why i mentioned Konkan is because already there is courtcase on this, when funding for konkan railway corporation was being raised using bonds,
line upto MAJN was promised to be with Konkan railway, but railway board unilaterally included line from Thokur to MAJN under SR.
I believe this is additional funding other than original funding from Government side which i believe is: Government of India 51%,
Maharashtra (22%), Karnataka (15%), Kerala (6%) and Goa (6%).

Positives
*******
Positive for Cape and Pollachi and TEN
-------------------------------------------
- Pollachi, Cape and Nagerkovil passengers would get their trains and development via TN which all this while might have been blocked by Divsion's from going to Chennai.
- Konkan Railway gets a terminal to the south from which they can plan and operate more trains. May be they will plan more trains to other regions within karnataka as well since HQ might be at Mangalore.
Positive for Konkan / Mangalore
-----------------------------------
- Konkan also earns revenue from Mangalore Port Terminal.
- Other positives ? might be some one from south TN can add here any new lines needed or things are already saturated ? one which come to my mentioned
- Chennai to Pondichery via the coast.
Positives for Kerala
---------------------
May be able priortize some of the development and add more route KM under it.
- Connect guruvayoor to thirunavaya (byepass of SRR for north bound trains)
- Fast forward Sabari railway (which has been going on for a long time)
- Nilambur - Nanjangud (Might be, atleast they can connect Wayanad district to railway initially) getting approval for it cross over to nanjangud is the difficult part.
- Thalassery - Mysore (Dont think this is a very feasible option - its more of political decision - never going to happen)
- Might be even can push for the rail coach factory at Kanjikode (Hanging for a long time, although land has been aquired and given to railway).
- High speed rail (DMRC has done its survey, and given its report, since highway with multiple lane is difficult in kerala, might be a good option,
But does it really come under IR i dont think so, might be Private funded run as seperate company like how metro's run, since real effort for this has been
going even before, current central government priortized high speed rail)
Negatives
*********
-- From SR perspective Freight earnings might be affected because of loss of Mangalore Port and other major ports in the west, including Vallarpadam and Vizhinjam container terminals
(not sure vizhinjam has any impact on the revenue of Tuticorin port). Might be Enayam/Colachel if it materializes will give some earnings from west.
-- No negatives for Konkan, but might be still there is bitterness for trains to other regions in karnataka.
-- From Kerala perspective, whether they would be able to sustain and generate enough revenue to run operation.
Freight revenues would need to come from Ports,Factories and Godowns (which would be originating or terminating terminals) this need to be seen.
Being a consumer state there would lot of terminating cargo, so terminal fee earnings would be there.
Following link gives how revenue is shared between zones when a train originate, terminate and pass through different zone. click here
-- Getting way through zones for a train from another zone (or getting priority for a train from different zone), would be difficult.
Example: Train from Kerala to Eastern side either in TN or via TN, Train from TN, especially one's beginning at Cape/TEN/CBE towards West or via Kerala, Konkan to North west, or North via West
But may be they would end up reciprocal kind of arrangements.
