This is reg the monsoon timings in Konkan route. I do not understand what purpose this serves. Due to this scheduled late running of trains on this route, what is happening on most of the occasions is the trains are stopped at all unscheduled places for a long time with the purpose of sticking to the schedule.
Can't this be done away with? A total of 4-6 hours is lost during the whole trip.

Trains actually run slower in monsoon time. They dont run with normal speed during normal time. Many times i have seen that the station master actually delivers the caution note to the loco pilot and takes his signature on the acknowledgement that he wont drive beyond 75 KM PH. This precaution is required because due to heavy rains, at many places rocks are heavy due to water and they may collapse if the rain vibrations are high.
