is it right that ticket checking people can come and check without their uniform and even without wearing batch in suburban trains...?
recently i travelled in chennai suburban train in that a ticket checking person came and asked me the ticket and i also showed my first class season ticket. he was not wearing any batch or uniform. they simply board in first class and asks for ticket with few passengers only. if any one found without first class ticket then he tries to grab certain money and he leaves him... its happening in moving trains and he does not hadover to the next station often.
for
...
this reason passenger can ask the ticket checker about the ID card or simply we have to show our ticket who ever ask in train...?
pls clarify this...its a concern for all....

Better to ask for slip against penalty!!
No TTE can collect fine, without issuing receipt in lieu of it!! If passenger deny payment on this ground, its not illegal!!

Few years back, I have read a news item which goes like this."In the guise of ticket checking, unscrupulous persons replace/handover old/used tickets, against valid tickets, shown by passengers. Subsequently, when genuine TTEs come for checking, the fraudcomes to light. Better beware"

I think a TTE should be in uniform while on duty and should also carry his ID cards. He should show his ID card when asked for by a passenger. Uniform and ID cards in any service are very important aspect of the service.
