I think like pantry cars there should be dinner/lunch cars in trains to enable passengers have their dinner or lunch in a more comfortable manner. If passengers choose, they will come here to have their lunch or dinner. The look of such coaches will be like that of a good restaurant.

An excellent idea but may not be practical. Each train say has 1000 passengers of which 50% feel like having the meal in the restaurant car. then 500 people have to be fed. An extra coach can house only around 50 diners with tables. So there have to be 10 rounds. If the 50 people of each round take 30 minutes, then 5 hours will be needed for the meal. So if meal service starts at 7pm it will end at 12midnight.
I discussed this with a very senior railway guy, he told me that if there is scope for an extra coach we would like it carry people as we are a country of Waiting Lists.

No, why will they wait till 4 p.m. I have said it is optional, not that the passengers can't have their dinner or lunch sitting on their berths. In ceremony houses we know of buffet lunch or dinner. Some people prefer seat-down meal. It is new thing that will add a new dimension to our ever evolving railway system.

At Rs 1 lakh per night tariff for travelling , the Maharaja Express Dining Car will be upscale and will provide a five star dining/wining atmosphere. The whole train has only 88 passengers and therefor having two dining cars is practical
