Both in AC3T and 3E class, in day time, side upper berth passenger has to sit on the side-2 seater only. Only in 3E class and GR-AC3T class, the SMB passenger has to sit in the 6-seater bay during day time.
[Not written in any railway book / no official information - I have traveled in all types of coaches, hence this is personal experience]

The reply ... (per # 29642-3)
iv) Side upper berth passenger has a sitting right on the 6 seat - bay passengers and not alongwith side lower berth passengers is in the context where side lower berth is provided and shared by two RAC passengers.

Kapadia ji,
Still not clear. So far, I have experienced; in Sleeper as well as 3AC classes, the side upper berth holder, where immediate down side lower berth is allotted to 2 RAC holders, has a sitting right only on the same immdiate lower berth [i.e. if berth no. 7 is allotted under RAC, the confrimed berth (no. 8) holder will have sitting right on berth no. 7 and neither on berth no. 1 nor berth no. 4].
Is there change in rules?
Thanks!

Sorry to inform you that SL/SU and one more RAC passenger (i.e. 3 passengers sit in the SL berth. in the night, SU berth holder goes up and SL is shared between the 2 RAC holders. The sitting is in the SL berth only and not in the 6 bay. If a passenger adjusts with anybody else is a different matter but the SL seat is for 2 passengers with RAC + 1 confirmed.
It seems there is some confusion in your side or the blog was not expressed correctly. sometimes the correct words do not occur even though we have correct thoughts.
thanks.
