*As a new rail line is made from Sikkim which will join the chord line of NJP-NBQ segment, Railway should also explore options for a by pass line before SGUJ such that the chord line joins the NJP-AUB chord line at Matigara by passing SGUJ.
*Likewise, in order to further cope up with disruptions, another railway line can be explored to connect Raiganj with AUB, for AUB lies right at the core of the chicken neck.
*Railway can also invest in Wildlife crossings in the SGUJ-APDJ route making it more environment friendly by

making underpass tunnels, viaducts, and overpasses. Any such investment along with doubling of the route will not only strengthen the existing routes but also provide safety to animals like elephants. However, such things are more required in the Chaparmukh area in GHY-LMG segment where such accidents have been reported in the recent past.

SGUJ s position in the core of the city has made it unavailable for expansion. It can at least hasve some expansion so that trains originating from NJP can be made to originate from SGUJ only serving Siliguri City. NJP should have more PFs so that it can accomodate long distance trains to and fro

The problem with SGUJ is not just in terms of Railway expansion but also approach-ability by road that would be catastrophic if SGUJ expands beyond a limit. On a normal day, a road traffic jam near Mahananada bridge and SGUJ thing is a regular affair. Not to forget the presence of a bus stand near by.
I'm not sure to what extent then, an increase in footfall at the station would affect the present state.
The expansion of SGUJ should not be problem, a couple of platforms can be easily made there considering

that MG Railbus has been permanently discontinued.
On the bit where NJP expansion should happen, that is actually a valid point. The problem with NJP, I think is that there are certain time periods when the load is high. Hence, the distribution of trains throughout the day is uneven which creates problems. At certain times in afternoon, I've seen all the platforms of NJP un-occupied as well. In any case, a couple of new platforms, would really help in those peak hours when trains are stranded near Ragapani and Ambari Falakata.
