One more new line survey. So many new lines, no proper funding to complete. Many pending.
This one to shorten the distance b/w Bengaluru and Solapur.
Chitradurga to Almatti via Kushtagi, Hungund, Kudalasangama.

Survey is very very necessary
For any new work to be undertaken only a proper survey can determine the operational and financial feasibility of that work
Without location survey the cost of project can escalate heavily also....

it is, when done with the intention of actually taking up the project
most surveys on IR are done just to placate the politicians, so that they can in the upcoming elections print in manifesto about how IR is "working" on railway line project to xyz village.

But this line will be very good....
SBC to SUR is an important section ... If it's length can be reduced then certainly it will be an important project.

true
but will they act??? remember this is election season, once election gets over (and the survey report will be out only after that) the project will lose momentum automatically
unless of course there is potential for freight movement, in which case the project will go through smoothly :P

yes it is good Project but first let them run trains on the routes already present. Hospet-Kottur route closed for Passenger trains from many years still not operational. Ballari-Chitradurg route no more trains, Guntakal-Ballari-gadag-Bagalkot-Bijapur no more and direct trains,Hassan-Mangaluru no more trains,Alnavar-dandeli no single train yet,Bagalkot-Khajjidoni CRS done 8 month back now ready to run rail bus on it still not operational,Only you find trains of them on MYS-SBC-YPR-UBL route & some on MYS-SBC-jolarpattai,MYS-SBC-DMM-SSPN-GTl route. If they not capable of running trains on already laid lines from many years what is use of investing in shorth routes when still major routes are Single line Unelectrified in SWR. Better first they utilise present availbale routes and improve them earn profit from them by overcoming Bus lobby in many places then they can start short routes survey or implementating them..
