It is an Intermediate Block Signal(IB written on it). It is a station in itself. It divides a long block section into 2 parts. ALP stops at this signal at RED and talks to SM in rear for getting line clear till next station.
It seems CR falling short of WAP locos. This train used to get atleast WAM4 but have seen it with WAG Loco many times
Yes, ever since MMR-DD line has gone under wire the strain on locos in CR has been quite a lot
Right from IGP IB system is there to increase sectional capacity.
In BSL division for instance, stations that are more than 10 Km apart are divided in 2 by IB. Probably same here
