* Lighter Train set rake shall increase the average speed (reduce the journey times), because of time saved in faster acceleration & deceleration) and slightly higher permitted speed due to lighter & superior rake.
* NDLS-Bhopal Shatabdi(6:00-13:50 & 15:15-23:30) with distinctly longest run of 703kms & an extended journey time 7:50 & 8:15 hrs is the most deserving candidate. Train set shall return bact to NDLS much before 23:00 hrs. If time saving is substantial, the train may be extended to HBJ.
* But which Shatabdi will actually get this rake??

MAS-MYS shatabdi may save appreciable time due to many curves on the route but the higher speed potential of 160kmph shall not be realised.
* This is a good option as this section have a large number of shatabdies successfully operating. Delhi-Ludhiana-Jalandhar-Amritsar in just 447 km stretch is a great route Sonepat-Panipat-Ambala-Kurukshetra etc mid size cities & Chandigarh/ Kalka, Jammu/ Katra as an offshoot too make this route a high density passenger corridor.
* NDLS-CNB-ALD (630kms) could also be a good option where the speed potential of the trainset may be exploited.
