huge buffers or high cost does not necessarily mean a bad chain...there may be very few trains running to a certain region/the first train must be notoriously famous for running late and may be the only option to link to the second train...secondly,high cost is also not of great concern if it serves your purpose...people pay for tatkal,etc...some prefer rajdhanis and shatabdis as far as possible...but still, the chain owner must defend the cause for his high buffer/cost...
Sir we need to keep all category people in mind , not every one can afford a Shatabdi or Raj .Every aims at a saving a penny end of the day :)
You have calculated the high cost of a chain yesterday.
How would that be a valid chain?
Chain should be cost effective too !!

agreed,a chain must be cheap with appropriate buffer...but,when you have cheaper, easily available, feasible options then in no way i would like to pay for more...but say if you can save 12-14 hours waiting for a connecting train, then its not worth it...thats why i said let the chain maker defend it why he has gone for a costlier/high buffer train...say i reach a station at 9pm..the only train available is rajdhani at 11pm...after that the next train is at say 6am...so i will prefer the costlier option if i can affiord it...
