dear MOD..
the train no. 4317 ddn-indb dehradun exp covers mtc-moz in 39 minutes (56km @ 86 kmph).
but here it is shown it on average departs 1 hr 40 min late from meerut (MTC) and arrives muzaffarnagar (MOZ) only 33 minutes late.. how can it cover so much gap..??
how is it possible..??

Hi Ankit,
Your analysis is correct. The reason is that the delay averages at intermediate stations need not involve the same number of data points, because of insufficient data. For example, average departure at Meerut might be over the past 20 days, whereas average arrival at Muzaffarpur might be over the past 10 days. So, although the average values are correct, they cannot be compared with each other. Unfortunately, this cannot be helped, because of insufficient data at intermediate stations.
However, delay information at end-to-end stations are always averaged over the past 2...

The average arrival/departure delays of trains is an explicitly calculated average of the actual delays of the given train at those stations over the past 2 months. The avg. delays are not available in a ready format anywhere else on the web - so this has to be calculated after due validation. Very soon, a FAQ will be released that will answer some technically oriented questions, like the ones you asked.
