In the face of the external PNR Crisis, some emergency changes have been rolled out for the Trip Diary.

1. PNRs are NOT required for Trip Diary any more. You can log a trip for ANY train, Locals, Unreserved travel, etc. Just click on "Start Trip", enter the Train Number and start logging!!!!

2. You must ALREADY be at the station or inside the Train to start a Trip Diary. When you are inside the train or at the station, just click on "Start Trip", enter the Train Number/PF#, etc. to start the Trip. Once again, you cannot creates a trip in "advance". You create a trip while you are at the station waiting for the train, or are inside it.

3. No more manual updates to Train Location. You MUST have GPS, internet, or cell-towers to log train updates.

4. Thereafter, the Train will appear on your Home Page, and you may log the Trip.

5. At the end of the Trip, just click on "End Trip".

6. Spottings & Trips are now merged. You may Spot other trains while on a Trip, or just Spot trains. You may be on a Trip on Train A, and some other member may ALSO spot Train A. Both updates will be on the SAME blog.

In the coming days, Trips/Spottings will be integrated further into the site and the RailFan app to provide a much more simplified experience to staying in touch with members during your Trip.
