I am planning to come from VIZAG to guwahati......!!!! i never been to GHY in the past....!!!!!! i will come in the train SC TO GHY TR no 2513 ..!!!!!!
kamakhya is not a big station i guess.....!!!!!! so the facilities wont be gud know compared to GHY. but i came to know that KAMAKHYA IS nearest to IITG.....that IITG concerned people told that the buses will be there from panbazar to IITG.......!!!!!

Actually Agthori is nearest to IITG.Kamakhya is still some 10 kms away.But the Panbazar you're talking about is near GHY.

but there is no TRAIN TO agthori know..... IITG concerned people told me that Bus service is available from G.N.B. road, Panbazar, near Assam Publication Board, Opposite to Hotel President, Guwahati

Take a rikshaw from GHY railway station & ask him to go to LAKHTOKIA overbridge.
10-15 Rs.
That is the palce where the BUS for IIT start.

thanks for info.........may i know which bus serivice nos will go to IITG from maligaon or kamakhya RS as it is 12 km distance from IITG ....i thought it is better to go from KYQ jn rather than GHY...!!!!! if u know then kindly post the details about fare and bus or other transportation.......... it will be useful
