Adding AC service will mean canceling General Service, then it will wrong for large no of passengers who cannot afford AC fares

it can be easily done without reducing the existing services. Just need to adjust the TT of long distance trains arriving to Mumbai during morning peak hours. Already there is news of reducing the travel time in Aug Kr, Rajdhani trains. Similarly TT of flying rani, Valsad fast passenger, Ranakpur, BGKT and Jamnagar Humsafar exp need to be tweaked such that they reach BDTS/BCT before 8 am in the morning.

Why don't they add AC coaches in normal EMUs. This will provide an alternative to those who want to travel in air conditioned coach+ it won't affect timing of other trains too.

Railways is also working on this proposal and may be very useful. There are technical issues involved as an AC local halts for more time that a non AC local. This may affect the punctuality of other trains.
