Online tickets sale is cheaper for IR as compared to counter sales in Computerised Reservation Centres. The cost of providing building, operating & maintaining Reservation Centres incurred by IR is very high, which is saved by IR through online sales.
Making online tickets costlier is a retrograde step as it will force people to go for purchasing counter ticket and the demand for increasing number of counters in CPRS across country shall rise.

Yeh baat sahi hai ki Kuch hi log online se counter ko shift karenge, lekin logon ka counter sales se online ko shift karne ka jo trend chal rahaa tha woh slow hosakta hai
