RPHDelhiTraMaEx~ 102 blog postsI am writing a message from Rampurhat, Birbhum, West Bengal about the Tarapith Temple which is situated in a village Tarapur which is only 9 Km away from Rampurhat Railway station (RPH).The Tarapith is regarded as one of the 52 Shakti Peethams of India. It is said to be so called because the eye ball (tara) of Sati fell here. Others say that Tarapith is not a pith but the place owes its sanctity to the fact that the Sage Basistha here worshipped the Goddes Sati in the form of Tara. Why would anyone from Murshidabad come to Rampurhat to take train??
The heavily populated subdivisions like Jangipur, Lalbag and Baharampur has excellent road connectivity to Malda and Farakka. Any Delhi bound passenger from Murshidabad prefers Farakka much more than Rampurhat. That's why all the Malda Delhi trains gets significant number of passengers from New Farakka also. Even in Kandi subdivision, blocks in the southern part like Salar, Burwan and Khargram has much better connectivity to Bardhaman than Rampurhat. So providing a train to Rampurhat is not at all going to serve Murshidabad as a whole.
