A new weekly or biweekly train from Miraj to Subrahmanya road via Belgaum Madgaon Udupi Padil bypass can take care of weekend load to Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya. Pilgrims to Dharmasthala can get down at Bantwal BC road station and catch bus to Dharmasthala (1-1/2 hours journey) or from SBHR station to Dharmasthala (1 hour 15 minutes journey).
This can become instant hit as it connects many popular pilgrim and tourist centres like Subrahmanya, Dharmasthala, Mangalore, Kateel (Mulki stn), Udupi, Kundapura, Kollur (Byndoor stn), Murudeshwara, Idagunji (Ankola), Gokarna, etc.
