Train 16511/12 takes 14 hrs. 45 min to travel 501 KM. The travelling time after Bantwal station is a time killer. The train reaches Managlore Jn. 5.10 AM and waits half an hour there, even though there is platform availability in Mangalore Central as two trains towards Kannur departs Central within 5.15 AM. And two train towards Puttur and Madgaon leaves by 5.30 AM which should not be a issue to be managed. Then this train halts 1.00 hrs in Mangalore Central from 5.55 AM to 6.55 AM. There are no trains between 5.10 AM and 6.45 AM towards Kannur and train 16511 has the opportunity to service in between this slot. Excuse from SW railway may be
1. There are

no platforms in Mangalore Central which is wrong.
2. There are no platforms in Kannur - Why can't the train be extended till Kozhikode to end the journey or moved to Feroke Station?
In return, train 16512 halts 1 hrs 45 minutes in Mangalore Central. It will be good if this train is provided a slot between the Parasuram Express and Egmore Exp. towards Mangalore Central.
For unknown reason someone does not want this train to run properly. This is the only train that connects northern Kerala, Mangalore with the IT hub Bangalore. Lots of senior citizens and family in this area is largely dependent on this train. So, request SW railway to consider an effective schedule for this train which benefits the public.
Thanks for reading.

It is not SWR which controls MAQ. It is SR. If you see the timings or slots alloted to SWR trains in Mangalore central as well as junction, it is pathetic. Triweekly YPR MAQ is made to reach MAJN at 0245 and at MAQ at 0400. Is this the way to handle a train connecting to capital of its state?
If Kannur Bangalore trains are taken over by SR, situation will dramatically improve. But they don't seem to be interested. MAQ is meant for maintaining trains to Trivandrum and Chennai only, not even for Malabar area.
