For IR the lockdown seems to have been a mixed blessing. Officials have claimed that the sparse traffic has enabled them to undertake maintenance functions on tracks, which would have otherwise taken 2 years to do. If this be true, the results should ideally be reflected in a lower accident rate in the coming years after restoration of normalcy. After all, the proof of the pudding lies in the eating.

Frankly speaking, I am not too optimistic about this. I think it will be a kind of buzzword but nothing much in reality. But hope I am proved WRONG.
As for removal of stoppages, it will probably be a case of taking one step forward only to be followed by 2 steps backwards. But let's wait and watch.
