For IR the lockdown seems to have been a mixed blessing. Officials have claimed that the sparse traffic has enabled them to undertake maintenance functions on tracks, which would have otherwise taken 2 years to do. If this be true, the results should ideally be reflected in a lower accident rate in the coming years after restoration of normalcy. After all, the proof of the pudding lies in the eating.

Yes right. At least they could have tried and experimented it when some specials had started and public was less. And maybe seamlessly continued the status quo when things would normalise. But now all specials are running with same TT so much that trains are reaching destinations much before time .
