Can any of the admins/senior members/knowledgeable members enlighten me how the Time Table Committee decides the timings of a new train announced in a budget.
Do they take into account the passenger demands, Demand of tickets on a certain day of the week (for weekly train) etc? or just decide this by looking about the platform availability on the source and destination stations and just announce it?

sir please name the association consulted before running dgha and hwh puri duronto...i wanna take some steps against them...but if my security is assured before hand...
me too dont feel they take into consideration the opinion of the passengers or check on which day of the week the passenger demand is more. the train in my question is the newly announced 16561/16562 between YPR-KCVL-YPR. This is announced to run on a day where there are most number of trains and i feel this would soon become commercially non-viable.
If they had taken into account, the opinions of the passengers associations, they would definitely have decided to run this on a weekend.

Not sure but I think it was the WHITE ELEPHANTS' PASSENGERS ASSOCIATION.
As a matter of fact they do Hareesh, but their recommendations often get overruled due to political considerations or the pressures of various lobbies like the BUS MAFIA. In such cases, however, decisions which are UNFAVOURABLE or INCONVENIENT to passengers, are JUSTIFIED on the grounds of OPERATIONAL REASONS or TECHNICAL PROBLEMS :)
OK, feel sad that many passengers (including me) have to resort to other mode of transport, when many trains are running empty and incurring huge loss to IR
