why railways are electrifying 1000km of tracks each year..i mean the reson behind it?
is it beczuse diesel engine r making costly issue than electric,if yes then after 20 years we may not see anymore wdm,wdp,wdg...just like steam engine?
more i want to share that today my co-passenger asking me and other fellows that how many litres of diesel a loco requires to haul 20-23 coaches train to complete 10km/or units of electric comsumped by a wap4 with same coaches n distance?
nobody...

Electric engine loco will also be an outdated technology. The future of the locomotive lies in a simple fuel cell that uses Hydrogen from fuel to combine with Oxygen and produce electricity. Diesel engines can easily upgrade to such a new technology by replacing the engine with the fuel cell, and in such as scenario, the overhead wires used for electric engines would become redundant.
Now that is really insane. BDTS-ADI it can get BRC WAP-4E, why run diesel loco?
really even i wonder that y from bdts to adi it runs with a diesel....it can easily run with a electric loco..and 10 mins halt at adi is sufficient for a loco change...!!!!!
so electric locos r much cheaper to operate n cost effective than diesel..thats why..so in future @ one piont diesel engine only b used as shunting work..
and another question raises from here-
how railway decides to electrify a particular routes,i mean there is any parameter for this or simply?

only 25% tracks are electrified, 75% diesel so it will take ages to convert all the routes to electric as IR not having enough money to do all those work now.. may be around 2050 we can see 100 % electrification..
