Very poor timings though ..
Definitely this train would have been extended to that particular station ..
I have boarded many trains in awkward timings from jaipur , ajmer but they all were passing trains not originating trains ..even terminating trains are ok to some Extend.

But since I usually board from KSR Bengaluru, midnight is no problem. Our area has 24hr city bus connectivity. So I personally feel midnight is ok.

For your preference, Sitamarhi is not a small place it is the headquarter of district Sitamarhi.
Boarding is ok anytime anywhere :P
Except in winters , because it is quite cold here
Deboarding between 12-6 is very tough for me 😑

And yet it is a small station compared to stuff like Howrah or Mumbai. Starting a train at 2 Am doesn't make sense from there.
