Those tracks seem newly laid. Also, what is the history of this station? Did it use to be Meter Gauge once too?

No, those are not newly laid tracks.
And yes, it used to be a MG Railway Line which got Converted into BG line in 1996 by then RM C.K. Jaffer Shreif.
As far as history is concern, the station build in 1896 by British.

Gorakhpur via Lalganj, Azamgarh for which, Railway did the survey but for no gain.
Ultimately, in 1996, Gauge got Converted in to BG but new line proposal got shelved.
