In your opinion, which is the worst name change for a train and station respectively? For train, I'll go with the Netaji Mail. It's old name was proper considering it goes to Kalka(as the name suggests) and it has been known as the same for 150 years. There wasn't any political motivation either to change it's name considering the existing name had no connotations(contrast this with Mughalsarai Jn where the name change was done because the government had issues with the previous name; none of that issue with Kalka Mail).

Worst decision in rechristening a Train. There is a legacy in the name Kalka mail.
But nowadays policy maker dont care about heritage
They believe in destroying heritage building & facade then replacing it with concrete structure.
To them Kevadiya is more important than Kalka station.

is no harm in Kevadiya.
But what they try to sell the name of Netaji before election in naming kalka mail after Netaji; rather if they really want to pay tribute to Netaji then they will care to publish the classified files of disappearence of Subhas Ch Bose.

If it takes a train to make the public remember a leader; then it is a dis service to the leader. Oh, and Gomoh is already named after him; as are tons of places in Bengal. The reason behind the change is less to acknowledge his struggle and more to capitalize on his legacy to gain votes. I would even go on to say that naming dozens of places on freedom fighters in hopes to gain political capital is akin to disrespecting them.

There's always an election in India, at any given point in time, shouldn't really stop politicians, or for that matter anybody from doing anything right? And I don't get it, where's the disrespecting in all of this?
The unadulterated truth in all of this is some people fear the loss of their political capital if people like Bose are eulogised.
Eulogy afterall is reserved for a chosen few, right?

Naming after an eminent person is not disrespectful at all but thats an easier & cheaper option. There is more option for remembrance of them. But that ll be time consuming process but an ruling term only means for 5 years.

In past All gandhi oriented publicity already ve created an havoc.
Now the existing policy maker are no different.
