Missing dated which are you talking is actually not missing date. It is based on following pattern: -
1) in which field dates are mention these are special fare or tatkal fare special trains which has railway notified dates train run till this date.
2) in which field dates are not mentioning these train has normal fare mail / express / superfast special trains in these trains railway notified that train will run till further announcement.

There isn't any pattern.
See, what happens is when train notifications come out, sometimes the notification explicitly mentions the end date of service; remember that we still have special trains so far. In those cases last date is given.
In many others, especially the ones recently started end date isn't given.

Thank you!! That definitely helps. Can you help me with one more pattern, for some dates both the start and end dates are missing, what should i make of that? My professor suggested that it could be trains that have been running from a long time, so no start date necessary. Is this the pattern? Thanks again
I checked through the train list and found the first train, 09268 PRYG-ADI express which has start date missing. The news section of the same train indicated that it started running post 25th March, as there are articles on 24th March saying that this train will be introduced by 25th. As expected, in many of the trains start date is missing because no one updated it.
See, generally on this site, we don't indicate start date on train list. There is a dedicated area on train page, called Inaugral date where it is shown. The reason is that the inaugural date of many trains, especially pre independence era ones is still shrouded in mystery and requires a fair bit of investigation...

Thank you!! It clears a lot of doubts I had about the dates, is the inaugural section named as something else, I searched for inaugural but could only find trains named inaugural. Can you please share the link, hoping it is structured :) ....
