Is there really any difference in side lower berth of 2A and 3A apart from fare??

Physically 3A may be better. But mentally its not fit since opposite side is crowded (Though curtains are there, still you feel the crowdness and much noise). Similarly you can expect little more crowd using the Toilets consequently the cleanliness will be questioned. There may be more competition to use plug points. So it depends upon the person side lower in 2A and 3A will vary.
In a practical and broader way, yes. If you've got a SL/SU, your travel is no different b/w 2A and 3A.
For tall people the SLB in 2A is more comfortable as it is bigger in length than a SLB in 3A.
Earlier i and some of my friend used to book 2A.But i don't by which algorithm we were allotted always side upper, whether it was confirm in place or get confirmed at the time of charting
Then i decided ,that i take 3AC .
