Why did they scrap Chennai-Mumbai mail? It was a lovely train and we could enjoy the best of the Indian countryside.

It's called "Speed Up", not "Scrapping" 😂
Learn the difference buddy 😂.
It was impending as the route has been heavily developed especially in last few years and these trains required the much needed upgrade.
Every speed up doesn't mean the original train ceases to exist.

travel in normal trains to reach their destination, for "enjoyment by watching countryside" or taking a "break in the lap of nature" you have the option of going for IRCTC Tourist Specials or trains like Palace on Wheels, Deccan Odyssey, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels etc.
Normal People simply want to reach their destination, preferably in lesser time if possible- this speed up does precisely that.
