** Introduced around 1975, Chhatisgarh express is probably the first long distance train originating from the state of Chhatisgarh.
** Initially it was Bilapur -Bhopal (800kms) trains with very limited stops which was later extended to H.Nizamuddin (1500kms); to Amritsar (2010 kms) and finally to Korba (2100 kms) on the other end

** Over the period of time the train lost its priority over the North-South superfasts operating on the route with addition of a large number of stoppages. It used to be extremely patronised train as it was the only train to connect Chhatisgarh with state capital Bhopal and north india.
** Today inspite of plethora of much faster trains introduced on the same route/ destination, it is still a well patronised train having 80 stops over its 2100km long journey.

** This train has recently been LHBfied and runs on route with double/multiple lines with a substantial portion fit for 130kmph,
** it is right time to give due priority to this train in addition to it speeding it up, so that it is not overtaken again and again and is able to maintain its patronage in future.

** trainsets are most beneficial for the trains having a large number of stops, traversing through hilly terrains/ curvilinear tracks and on tracks having many Temporary/permanent speed restrictions.
** Trainsets with non ac coaches need to be allotted to frequently stopping trains like Chhatisgarh Express, Amarkantak Express, Sewagram Express etc to improve the line capacity

Without resorting to trainsets, those 3 trains can have their travel time reduced by up to 3 hours when LHBfied. In case of CG, travel time can be reduced by at least 8 hours. All these trains get delayed by up to 2 hours (low priority) but yet make it up. CG multiple times.
