There are 7 daily passenger trains between JBP and BPL all undergoing LR at ET. With trains like Amarkantak, Janshatabdi and HBJ ICE reaching in busy hours, trains get detained for even an hour at times. Why doesn't wcr plan for a bypass at ET? Is it because no/ negligible freight traffic is expected?

That doesn't make 7 I believe.
I had personal experiences when both janshatabdi and amarkantak were detained at itarsi pfs for about an hour. This used to happen with hbj ice also but I am only acquainted with the pre covid scenario.

Maybe the way of controlling differs everyday, thats why your personal experience is totally different from my personal experience. Apart from traveling in JBP SMNH, twice I have spent 4 to 5 hours at ET just wandering around the platforms and spotting different trains and combining both these times I was able to witness all these 7 trains arriving & departing right on time.

Sir because there are so many reasons for LR at Itarsi. First reason :- Because there are many up-downers who updown daily from these trains like Amarkantak and janshatabdi. And before when the Itarsi-Prayagraj section was not electrified, the loco change from diesel to electric was done here so it was a technical stop. And before there was not a need of making a bypass line as there was not this much traffic. But I think that now there should be a bypass line from which the night passenger trains and freight train would be bypassed. PS:- I have never seen a LR of a freight train in itarsi in my 11 years experience.

1. Exactly. I don't think any freight is going to take ET route as the ones bound to bpl shall take bina route from kte straight away.
2. Yes there are a few boarders from et but frankly speaking ppi provides the largest number of pax
3. My only concern regarding bypass line is the time wasted in LR. Look, today in spite of arriving before time, Janshatabdi departed after a halt of 30min almost
