For 200km the base fare is Rs 476 so it can be Rs 3 per km. ICf should also participate in tenders for supply of coaches to metrorail along with private players. It will bring down the cost of rake and will have healthy competition.

Problem is high base fare at short distance.

If average speed will be less then 65kmph then no one will pay fare more then 2/= per km.

Metro cost depends in structural civil cost and land acquisition cost which around ts 200cr -300cr per km. At present meyros are charged @Rs 3-5 perkm based on distance and cost of construction. In Andhra pradesh city bus costs rs 2 perkm and for 20km Rs 30-35. So metro costing rs 3 perkm is not too high.
