Hello everyone, I will be sharing some picturesque information about the ongoing developmental works at Ashokapuram (AP) Railway Station in Mysuru.

The main aim of the development of Ashokapuram (AP) is to facilitate the berthing capacity at Mysuru, reduce the burden of saturation at Mysuru (MYS) by extending few possible trains to the station, and eventually make it convenient for train travellers from central and south Mysuru to utilize the developed facility, instead of traveling 8-10 kms to the main station.

The inauguration of the newly developed railway station of Ashokapuram will be on August 15th 2023 (Independence Day). Although, it can be subject to change.

The developmental works at Ashokapuram include :-

1) Yard modelling works for proper alignment of workshop yard as well as the backyard.

2) Construction of new Island Platform PF-4 & 5. The existing PF-1 to PF-3 are rebuilt with extending PF-1 towards Mysuru (MYS) side and Island platforms PF-2 & 3 extended towards Chamarajanagar (CMNR) side.

3)The existing PF-3 and new PF-4 tracks will be connecting both Mysuru (MYS) and Chamarajanagar (CMNR) sides. PF-5 will be connected only to MYS side but a separate dead end on CMNR side.

4) Remodelling of Workshop yard line, by building 2 new sets of shunting tracks next to PF-1 and main line, on the CMNR end.

5) Building another long shunting line next to PF-5 track line, which is dead end towards CMNR side and connected to rest of the platforms on MYS end.

6) Building of new second entry building in the backyard (not connected to the Platform)

7) Extension of the existing Foot over Bridge (FOB) from Island Platform 2&3 to Island platforms 4 & 5 to the second entry building.

Presently, the track remodelling works are over and new platform track lines are ready. The construction works for new 2nd entry building, new platforms 4 & 5, extension works of FOB, building of new Enroute Carriage Watering Systems for PFs 3,4 & 5, and other passenger friendly amenties are still going on. Electrification works are also going on and is disrupted due to remodelling works.

As per the plan, PF-1 & 2 will be utilized for trains running between MYS & CMNR, and PFs 3, 4 & 5 will be used for extended trains from MYS.

I will be sharing my personal renders of the railway station layouts, before and after remodelling. Will also share the pics with some markings.

IMPORTANT !!

I personally request the admin to update the following information about Ashokapuram (AP) railway station.

Old station - 3 PFs -- PF-1 & 2 connected to both MYS & CMNR sides, PF-3 connected only to MYS side.

New station - 5 PFs -- PF-1, 2, 3 & 4 connected to both MYS & CMNR sides, PF-5 connected only to MYS side.

I request the admin to update the number of platforms of AP to be '5 - five' instead of '3 - three'

Hope you all liked about the information.

Yes sir, there are proposals but still it's really difficult to make build double line between Mysuru (MYS) and Ashokapuram (AP). Particularly in and around Chamarajapuram (CMJ) Halt railway station, there is very little or no space to build a parallel track. There's the backyard of Old Court of Mysuru on one side of the track and a public school and a road on the opposite. Also, there's Kannegowdana Koppal (K.G Koppal) area with many houses nearer to the railway track, which makes it difficult for railways to build double tracks.

Honestly,

I also preferred the same idea of a dual line between MYS and AP, but sadly, there are lots of space constraints, particularly at CMJ

Kind of yes ... Because it's the first railway station 'with loop lines' that you'll get after Mysuru (MYS). Actually, there's a halt station in between MYS and Ashokapuram (AP) called Chamarajapuram (CMJ).

If you come from Bengaluru (SBC) or Hassan (HAS) sides to Mysuru and continue further towards Nanjangud (NTW) and Chamarajanagar (CMNR), you'll get CMJ, then AP.

Will line after pf5 be used for stabling workshop coaches ? If no they should have put 1 switch on pf5 to Last loop so that trains that have terminated or shunted could have loco reversal via Last loop line. Better option instead of whole rake shunting.

Yeah right, but also depends on the trains that'll be extended here.
