ON has 5 platforms due to one single line goes towards UCR, RBL. One single line goes towards BLM, SJP. And, double line goes towards LKO, LJN. Prior there was only 4 lines in ON. Due to this situation looping of freights not possible here so afterwards a line only created for looping freight trains later that line got PF also. So, like this now ON has 5 PF.
I think IR should focus somewhat on the ON-BLM-STP line as well. I traveled on a part of it b/w Naimisharanya and Balamau and the speed limits were definitely showing. It was almost like a fast MG train rather than a proper BG one. Those tracks can and should take more trains. It would benefit both people in that area[more passengers can be run] and IR[few express trains can be bypassed via that track; currently only couple of express trains use it].
You are said totally right. This BLM-STP route MPS is so much low around 75 KMPH. That's like a joke on today. Trains should be increase here but for trains taking this route requires path in already saturated and worst handled LKO-MB-GZB route.
NR should take up on this route and make proper connectivity with Naimisharanya for pilgrimage purposes, that will benefitted both passengers and IR.
