I agree. DLI is a decent terminus in itself. It has enough facilities and is connected to the metro nearby. The only downside is it doesn't have extension to the airport express line. But then, one can't have everything. It is still a better place to terminate a train than say, ANVT which is still relatively on the outskirts.
There are limited facilities at Ayodhya, even if you factor in the reconstruction work going and the Cantt/Faizabad station. It would make a whole lot more sense to just extend, say Puri-Ayodhya express to Lucknow[say terminate at GTNR] than Ayodhya itself.
Even railways can thing for Svdk and asr VB to terminate at DLI. It is well connected with chandani Chowk metro.
