those who planned to visit ayodhya during 18th to 23rd moye moye moment done with them
Reminds me of the past. Wasn't there a time when to reach Lucknow, trains actually had to come via Sitapur[ I am talking like ~100 years before]?
BBK se Burhwal tak Oudh Rohailkhand (NR now) ki BG line thi, GKP se Burhwal se Sitapur se Kanpur & Lucknow tak MG line thi, ASH se CNB tak shayad MG aur BG parallel chalti thi.
There wasn't a direct MG connection to Lucknow. Some stations en route had dual gauges [both BG + MG] , upto BUW I think, but trains coming in from GKP where on MG which branched off to Sitapur and then returned to Lucknow Jn [the STP-LJN service was opened pre 1900 only].
Interestingly, there was a station called 'Bahramghat' on the shores of Ghaghra when Elgin Bridge was not build. Trains, for some time, used to terminate upto there.
