I think my co passenger in 1A took money from my bag worth 2,500. After deboarding with my bag, I exactly kept it with me until I reached home. I didn't check for this part of the money until five days later when I needed it and boom, I couldn't get it. I have wracked my brains but couldn't think of any situation except for the ten hour journey b/w LKO-NDLS where I both slept and even got down for ten minutes at CNB; when I left my bag alone.

I feel sorry for your unfortunate experience, but honestly I don't think that there is much that you can do here, since the amount was in cash and it happened a few days back. It will be quite difficult to prove this unless there is a video evidence of the same. Yes, I assumed so as well. I experienced anything like this the first time and ironically, in 1A to boot. I had often left my singular bag back in the day even in SL class and footplated and nothing happened. But I don't think it's worth taking much tension over 2.5k - 3k, especially if it can't be proved . I guess I will just need to be more careful in the future.

Amount is small plus you did leave your Wallet alone (though in a Bag).
Maybe the other Passenger saw you using your wallet keeping it inside Bag and decided to get their hands over it once you got down at Kanpur.
